Zeng Xiaoming video calls Cuban Consul General in Guangzhou

On May 7, on behalf of Director-General Wang Sheng of Hainan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Deputy Director-General Zeng Xiaoming spoke with Denisse Llamos Infante, the new Consul General of Cuba in Guangzhou through a video call.

Zeng expressed gratitude for the support, understanding and cooperation of the Consulate General since the COVID-19 outbreak. He said that shortly after the outbreak, leaders of China and Cuba exchanged messages of sympathies, which fully demonstrated the profound traditional friendship between the two countries. This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Cuba, and he hoped that Hainan and Cuba could achieve new breakthroughs in pragmatic cooperation in various fields.

Denisse thanked the Chinese government for its selfless help during the epidemic, and would like to take the 60th anniversary as an opportunity to elevate exchanges and cooperation between Cuba and Hainan to new highs. The two places have many similarities in terms of geography and climate, and thus enjoy broad prospects for tourism, trade and agriculture cooperation. She invited Hainan's tourism experts to help conduct field research and share development experience in Cuba.

Zeng also introduced the latest development and achievements of the construction of Hainan pilot free trade zone and free trade port, and welcomed Cuban entrepreneurs and artists to come and participate in the International Tropical Agricultural Products Winter Trade Fair and the Hainan Island Carnival, so as to further promote cultural exchanges and business ties between the two places.
