On April 30, 2019, Director-General Wang Sheng of Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province was invited for an interview on the “FTP Live” program of Hainan Broadcasting Group, introducing how the office has been making the most of its foreign affairs resources to serve the key tasks of building Hainan into a pilot free trade zone and a free trade port with Chinese characteristics.

Wang Sheng pointed out that Hainan must adhere to the principle of opening up and strengthen international cooperation with the Belt and Road countries and regions. Hainan must take full advantage of the Boao Forum for Asia, especially the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road: Island Economic Cooperation,” the “ASEAN-China Governors/Mayors’ Dialogue” and other international exchange platforms, to promote pragmatic international cooperation and attract more foreign investments and businesses.

In the interview, Wang Sheng also talked about fruitful results achieved from the business meetings and activities innovatively arranged in the two beautiful villages named Shamei and Nanqiang during this year’s Boao Forum for Asia annual conference, and rewarding visits to some of the world’s most open economies such as the U.K., Singapore, Japan, Dubai and Hong Kong over the past year.

The interview is scheduled to be broadcast through the upgraded Hainan TV and Hainan News Channel in early May.
