Shen Danyang, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and Executive Vice Governor of Hainan Province, meets in Haikou with Abdul Manaf Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism of Brunei on May 26.

Shen welcomed the delegation and introduced the latest development and main policies of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP). He hoped that Hainan and Brunei could enhance communication, and strengthen cooperation in agriculture, deep-sea farming and tourism especially in resuming direct flights and developing multi-stop tourism products. He encouraged Bruneian enterprises to take the opportunity of Hainan's building of the "two headquarters bases" and participate in the construction of the FTP, so as to push forward the China-Brunei relations.

Manaf thanked Hainan for its reception. He said that ASEAN and China have broad prospects for cooperation and huge potential for development. As one of the ASEAN countries, Brunei can effectively gather resources in agriculture, minerals and raw materials from countries of the East ASEAN Growth Area. The Hainan FTP also enjoys many unique preferential policies. It is hoped that the two places could further explore and promote cooperation in agriculture, fisheries, tourism and trade to realize mutually beneficial development in the long run.

During their stay in Hainan, the delegation also visited the Hainan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, learned about the development of rice cropping and aquaculture of the province, and exchanged views on rice cropping techniques, fisheries cooperation as well as fish and shrimp breeding.
