On March 29, Secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee Feng Fei met with the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to China, Massimo Ambrosetti, and his delegation in Haikou.

On behalf of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and the provincial government, Feng Fei welcomed Ambassador Ambrosetti and his delegation and briefed them on the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port. He highlighted that China and Italy have a long history of friendly exchanges, and bilateral relations have maintained healthy and stable development under the strategic guidance of their respective heads of state.

He stated that the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port is a major national strategy personally planned, guided, and promoted by Chinese President Xi Jinping, and that on December 18 last year, the island-wide special customs operations of the Hainan Free Trade Port were successfully launched. Hainan is accelerating the establishment of a modernized industrial system with unique strengths, striving to become a leading gateway for China's opening up in the new era, thereby creating more opportunities for global enterprises.

He expressed hope that both sides would take the launch of special customs operations as an opportunity to fully leverage their respective strengths to further strengthen personnel exchanges and deepen cooperation in fields such as pharmaceuticals, fashion, design, education and culture, tourism, and yachting, achieving mutually beneficial growth through complementary advantages.

Ambassador Ambrosetti stated that the vitality and development prospects of the Hainan Free Trade Port are impressive, and the two sides have a solid foundation and broad space for cooperation. He further stated that Italy is willing to work with Hainan to implement the consensus reached by their respective heads of state, establish a closer cooperation mechanism, further strengthen people-to-people exchanges, expand the scope and elevate the level of cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, and investment, industrial development, science, education, and culture, promote more practical outcomes, and contribute greater strength to advancing the development of bilateral relations.

Vice Governor of Hainan Province, Yang Guoqiang, and Italy's Consul General in Guangzhou, Valerio De Parolis, also attended the meeting.
