Abdulla Nasser Alhajri, Consul General of the State of Qatar in Guangzhou, recently visited Hainan to attend the 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026. On April 21, Dai Zhen, Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province, met with Consul General Abdulla Nasser Alhajri in Sanya, where the two sides held in-depth discussions on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between Hainan and Qatar across various fields.

Dai Zhen began by welcoming Abdulla Nasser Alhajri to the 6th Asian Beach Games. She noted that China and Qatar have maintained friendly exchanges since the establishment of diplomatic relations, and the heads of state of the two countries have reached important consensuses on strengthening cooperation in areas such as traditional energy, renewable energy, finance and investment, as well as promoting people-to-people exchanges.

Dai briefed the consul general on the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port since the launch of special customs operations, as well as its characteristic industries and key industrial parks. She suggested deepening industrial chain cooperation between Hainan and Qatar in aviation, exploring the establishment of a Free Trade Zone (Port) partnership, and leveraging major platforms such as the China International Consumer Products Expo to enhance exchanges and cooperation in fields including economy, trade, consumption, cultural tourism, logistics routes, clean energy, and tropical agriculture.

Abdulla Nasser Alhajri expressed his gratitude to Hainan Province for its warm hospitality and meticulous arrangements for the Qatari delegation. He agreed with Dai's proposals and highlighted the fruitful outcomes of Qatar-China cooperation in infrastructure development. He expressed his hope to take this visit as an opportunity to establish working contacts with relevant parties in Hainan.  After learning in detail about the China International Consumer Products Expo, the agarwood industry, and the cultural tourism industry, AlHajri stated that promoting stronger cooperation between Qatar and Hainan is a key task during his consulship. He added that the Consulate General of Qatar in Guangzhou is willing to serve as a bridge, assisting Hainan in establishing connections with relevant free trade zones in Qatar, and facilitating visits to Hainan by high-level Qatari delegations and Qatari companies at an appropriate time, with the aim of enhancing personnel exchanges, fostering mutual understanding, seeking cooperation opportunities, and expanding areas of collaboration.
