On April 23, Feng Fei, Secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, and Liu Xiaoming, Governor of Hainan Province, met with H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia, and his delegation, who were in Hainan to attend the opening ceremony of the 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026.

On behalf of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hainan Province, Feng Fei, Secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, welcomed His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani and his delegation to Hainan and expressed gratitude to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) for its strong support for Sanya's hosting of the Asian Beach Games and for the development of sports in Hainan.

He noted that the 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 (the Games) are the first major international multi-sport event to be held in Hainan following the launch of special customs operations of the Hainan Free Trade Port, and the successful opening ceremony marked a splendid beginning for the event. He stated that the province would spare no effort to provide comprehensive services and support to ensure that this grand sports event is held to high standards and with unique touches.

With its warm climate and unique sports resources, Hainan aims to leverage the Games to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the OCA, attract more high-level international sports events to Hainan, and continue building the province's global reputation and influence.

Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani praised the Hainan Free Trade Port's development achievements and congratulated the province on the successful opening of the Games. He stated that the Games are a grand occasion for the OCA family, with every aspect, from preparation to the opening ceremony, fully demonstrating Hainan and China's capabilities in organizing high-level events. He expressed hope that all participating teams would compete at their best and demonstrate sportsmanship throughout the events.

The OCA values its cooperation with Hainan and is committed to deepening exchanges and coordination between the two sides, increasing support for Hainan's sports development, actively promoting more high-level international events in Hainan, and contributing to the development of Olympic sports in Asia.

Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Sanya Municipal Committee Wang Qiyang also attended the meeting.
